Did you know during the 2020-21 financial year it was observed that there were over 67,500 cybercrime reports, an increase of nearly 13% from the previous financial year?

More than 75% of pandemic-related cybercrime reports involved Australians losing money or personal information.

Nearly 500 ransomware cybercrime reports, an increase of nearly 15% from the previous financial year. (ACS Annual Cyber Threat Report 2021).

In a Crypto.news article (May 5, 2022) it states ‘Australia continues to see increased adoption of cryptocurrency from not only retailers but also institutions. In November 2021, major superannuation fund Rest Super revealed that it was considering adding crypto to its portfolio. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) also became the first banking institution in the country to enable cryptocurrency support’.

In this introduction to Cybersecurity and digital currency, we will be discussing what cybersecurity is, as well as the new digital currency such as blockchain and cryptocurrency. As digital currency becomes more accepted, it won’t be long before you will be asked about if you’ll accept crypto. In this Webinar, we are introducing you to Blockchain and Cryptocurrency and why as a small business you should even know about them; as well as the benefits and risks with accepting digital currency.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
– The importance of Cybersecurity to small business, including Cyber threats, software considerations, passwords, backups.
– You’ll be introduced to Blockchain and Crypto currency to give you a better understanding and what it will mean to your business.
– Some basics on how to best implement Cryptocurrency for your business.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• You must be registered with the Business Connect program.
• You should be logged in and registered for the Webinar MS Teams meeting at least 5 minutes prior (remember to check your spam folder for the link!).
• Have a pen & paper ready to write down your questions, as well as a bottle of water.
• Online video recordings and resources will be available for those who attend and who are Business Connect customers.

ABOUT THIS EVENT
This webinar is aimed at small businesses throughout NSW who have just started or have an established business and we have the capacity to host up to 50 people.

The webinar will take place on MS Teams, click below to book. You will receive the MS Teams link in an email prior to the workshop (check your spam folder as they often go there). This will be a live online event which will be recorded. The recording and resources will be sent to attendee’s in due course.

Clive has over 25 years experience with running his own two small businesses, which were built by him from the ground up and continue to operate today. The first company, deals with digital printing and direct marketing including online applications in the form of CRM’s, and the second company is an online international telegram business.

Prior to developing his own business, Clive worked for Australia Post where he started as a postie and on completion of a Diploma in Transport and Administration, worked his way up the ladder to become the NATIONAL SALES & PRODUCT MANAGER – Electronic Sales, meeting with utility companies and local council to facilitate Australia Post Electronic Data Interface (EDI) system.

The most important thing is to believe in yourself and never give up in either your personal or business life.
