Since opening in 2007, Gai and Bernard have established a tasting experience quite different to others.

The  Cellar Door tastings attempt to align the tastes and flavours of our small range of wines with the complementary tastes and flavours of Gai’s unique range of products and condiments. Here are some examples:

  • Taste our 2106 NYU Semillon with its predominant lemony flavour, turning into passionfruit as you swallow – A fine wine choice with any seafood dish. This is then aligned to the taste of Gai’s Lemon Vincotto (also made from Semillon grapes) and used to deglaze after pan frying fish fillets. The lemony flavour of the wine has an almost magical synergy with the lemony flavour of the Vincotto;
  • Taste our 2014 Premium Shiraz with its latent peppery after taste.  Then taste of our Raspberry Vinaigrette (made from the same Shiraz grapes, Extra Virgin OO & vinegar) to drizzle over any garden salad especially one that includes rocket. The pepperiness from the rocket enhances the salad with the pepperiness from the Shiraz grapes;
  • Taste our 2013 (Gold Medal) Cabernet Sauvignon – the wine of choice with beef. Then taste Gai’s Caramelised Cabernet (from the same Cab Sav grapes) which (almost) convinces you that you can identify the particular cut of beef!

The Degustation Lunches (every Saturday & Sunday between 12 noon and 3pm) are uniquely special experiences. Five courses for $50 is an indulgence you’ll fondly remember. They include:

  • Antipasto;
  • Gai’s Special Treats
  • Primo (a selection of 3 meats)
  • Cheese and friends
  • A Trio of Desserts
